Banks Islands

Vanuatu,
South Pacific

Sights of Vanuatu

The Banks Islands - named by Cook after Joseph Banks are at the far northen end on the island chain. The villages and jungle have changed little in the lastt couple of centuries.

  • Uruaparpara - a volcano breached by the sea and the village on the inner shores of the island. Chief Joseph will arrange local guides for a jungle scramble to the crater rim.

  • Waterfall and lagoon on Gaua island- here the local village women perform an amazing water dance as part of local custom.

  • Reef Islands - huge deserted coral reef with wild snorkeling - watch out for sharks!

  • Santo - US WW2 base in the Pacific - fascinating snorkel and scuba sites around the coast . Rainforest and jungle treks to be explored with a local guide.
