Accommodation in Las Vegas

Guide to Las Vegas hotels...

Las Vegas developed on the idea that if a casino offered bed space, the patrons would stay longer. On that thought the first hotels were built, small and ranch-like. Some had themes and some were like roadside motels. But from then on they grew bigger and better and drew more public attention every time.

Today the likes of the Sands and Dunes - hotels that were world famous and imortalised in films starring Frank Sinatra - are long demolished. In their place lie super hotels amongst the finest and largest in the world. Each one has its own unique theme and are so large that they almost act as a city within a city.

The vast majority are located along the southern end of the Strip (Las Vegas Boulevard), starting from the Mandalay Bay near the airport, stretching north to the Stratosphere tower. There are also a few of the more traditional Vegas lodgings in the old downtown area. It goes without saying that each hotel has a large casino space.

  • Mandalay Bay & Four Seasons Hotel

The most southerly, towering to 40 stories high. Has a large pool area, with beach and waves.

  • MGM Grand

Over 5,000 rooms in this large green structure. One of the largest casino spaces in the world, plus live shows and boxing, and a Disney-esque theme park.

  • Luxor

A pyramid almost the size of its real-life counterparts. Has elevators that move diagonally up the walls. Includes IMAX theater.

  • Excalibur

King Arthur's castle recreated, with 4,000 rooms.

  • New York, New York

The famous skyline of New York recreated on a small scale and turned into a giant hotel.

  • Caesar's Palace

One of the oldest and most famous hotels. Encloses the Forum Shops Mall with its changing day-night sky and authentic recreation of Rome's streets.

  • Paris

A half-size version of the Eiffel Tower fronts this new French-themed hotel.

  • Aladdin

The rebuilt Aladdin houses a similar shopping mall to that at Caesar's, but this time the theme is an Arabian bazaar.

  • Flamingo Hilton

Another of the older hotels, still with its brightly glowing neon flamingo feathers outside.

  • Bellagio

Made famous in the remake of the movie Ocean's Eleven this hotel features fine art from around the world, and a lake with dancing water show out front!

  • Stratosphere Tower

The tallest freestanding tower in North America, and the worlds highest rollercoaster atop. Oh, and there are hotel rooms, too

  • Monte Carlo

Next door to Bellagio, themed on the famous principality in the Mediterranean.

  • The Mirage

Now elderly compared to its fellow Strip-mates, you can still see the famous Siegfried & Roy magic show here, with their White Tigers and Elephants.

  • Treasure Island (at the Mirage)

Pirates of the Caribbean-themed hotel, with a realistic battle in its harbour out front.

  • Venice

Another very new hotel, and boasting some 6,000 rooms. Themed on Italian water city Venice, with a recreation of the canals and architecture out front.
