Sights of Santa Monica

Santa Monica has a number of sights and attractions worth visiting, and all easily reached within a compact area.

  • Santa Monica Pier
Location: Ocean Avenue and Colorado Avenue

Built in 1929, it is the oldest surviving pleasure pier on the West coast. It offers spectacular views, a funfair with 90ft ferris wheel, sport fishing and regular views of wild dolphins.

  • Route 66
    Location: Santa Monica Boulevart

Santa Monica is the westernmost section of the historic highway - the first national interstate.

  • Palisades Park
Location: Ocean Avenue between Adelaide Drive and Colorado Avenue.

A beautiful park overlooking the Pacific Ocean and great for strolling/blading. Features a camera obscurer and visitor centre.

  • Museum of Flying
    Location: Santa Monica Municipal Airport

Features 40 aircraft in a futuristic hangar complex and an insight into aviation history.

  • California Heritage Museum
Location: 2612 Main Street and Ocean Park Boulevard

Constructed in 1894, it is the former home of one of Santa Monica's founders - John Jones - and features numerous exhibitions on California.

Many other sights are located within Los Angeles, such as Universal Studios, Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Hollywood, the Queen Mary at Long Beach and Marina Del Rey.
