Sights of Tombstone

Gunfight or no gunfight, Tombstone has a lot to offer. Its true - most of its day-to-day tourist business focusses on the events of October 1881, but delve a little deeper and you'll find fascinating stories and attractions demonstrating the town's 'Too Tough to Die' past. You'll see theaters, mines, saloons, cemetaries and more.

  • The OK CorrallO.K. Corrall & Historama
    Location: Allen Street

The first and foremost task in Tombstone is to witness the site where on October 26, 1881, Wyatt, Virgil and Morgan Earp, plus Doc Holliday, fought a band of men known as The Cowboys in a deadly gun battle in the town's horse livery following months of bitter arguments. As part of your visit, take in a gunfight re-enactment, plus a detailed history of Tombstone and how it came to be in a small theater.

  • Bird Cage Theater
    Location: Allen Street

The Bird Cage, named after its ornate balcony boxes, was a theater so well-renowned that all of the day's top acts made a beeline to perform there. When it closed, its interior was left as-is until it was re-opened as a museum. One of Tombstone's finest landmarks, venture inside to see the Faro table at which Doc Holliday dealt (and had his famous argument with Johnny Ringo), the original decor, and well over 100 bullet holes from rowdy nights of the past!

  • Tombstone Courthouse
    Location: 3rd & Toughnut Streets

The original brick courthouse building, where the trial after the gunfight at the OK Corrall was held. Tours inside can be taken on a daily basis.

  • Boot Hill Cemetary
Location: Highway 80 North of Town

Tombstone's first graveyard. Wander round the graves of many original inhabitants of the town
and read the curious descriptions of their deaths - many from hanging or meetings with Indians. The most notable graves are those of the Cowboys killed in the gunfight at the O.K. Corrall.

There are many companies offering tours, walks and ghost trails in Tombstone. Details and tickets can be found in Allen Street.
