Shopping in Annecy

Annecy is quite a large town catering for the many needs of its inhabitants. The newer part of town deals primarily with its retail streets, where shops of all varieties can be found - particularly along Avenue d'Abigny and the pedestrianised Rue Carnot.

In the old town, shops are largely limited to souvenir and smaller grocery stores catering to the tourists.

Annecy Sunday MarketMarket
Annecy old town does, however, hold a large weekly market which lines the edge of the canal around the Palace d'Isle and Rue Ste. Claire every Sunday morning. This famous market draws crowds from miles around, who fight for fresh local produce and other goods. Well worth the visit.
