The Streets of Madrid

Historic Walking Guides Madrid is a new title in the series from Destinworld Publishing.

The site of Madrid was sought out by Arab and Berber Muslims in 1200AD because of its underground water source. The remains of many empires, rulers and time periods still grace the streets and grand boulevards of the city – one of Europe’s most visited attractions.

According to Beebe Bahrami, a writer and anthropologist dedicated to writing about Spain, Madrid is a place with its own psyche; a place of neighborhoods and Madrileños from all walks of life. She has enjoyed tapas y vino with them whilst uncovering the many historic sights still in evidence here today in her new book Historic Walking Guides Madrid (ISBN 978-0-9559281-6-1) – a series of eight themed walks, from Medieval Madrid to Historic Wine Taverns; Hapsburg Madrid to the places Artists and Writers hung out.

In an ideal and compact size, this book guides the visitor through every corner of the city, past all of its historic buildings and attractions, including many museums, taverns and historic hotels.

• Clear maps, times and distances
• Plan your walk by theme
• Museum and building opening times
• Historic eating, drinking and hotel suggestions
• Personal guidance from the author
